Criminals are now spamming mobile users by name, state and income level 19th June 2013

Dublin, 19th June 2013 – AdaptiveMobile, the world leader in mobile security, has unearthed evidence that spammers are using mobile users’ personal data to launch invasive, highly targeted attacks. For the first time, mobile spammers can use such information as a subscriber’s first name, postcode, income level and ethnicity to make attacks personalised and therefore more effective. AdaptiveMobile issued the findings in its Global Mobile Security Insights for Mobile VIII, “Mobile security threats: conflict, combat and culture in the United States,” which is the result of mobile traffic analysis from major US mobile operators.

London, 9 May 2013 – AdaptiveMobile, the world leader in mobile security, today reveals a growing web text phishing scam targeted at consumers in Western Europe. As part of the company’s Ongoing Threat Analysis (OTA), which reports on global mobile security threats, it has uncovered a sophisticated scam where European subscribers were tricked into giving their operator portal login information, allowing scammers to send thousands of costly international messages containing spam from their accounts. AdaptiveMobile tracked the first instance of this attack 18 months ago and the threats lab has monitored a steady increase since.
