Mobile and Fixed Line Network Protection
2011 marked the point at which mobile-broadband subscriptions outnumber fixed broadband subscriptions by 2:1, with the increased usage of smartphones, gaming consoles, internet enabled TV’s and tablets. This fundamental shift has changed the way in which carriers seek to provide security to their subscribers.
It is no longer viable to try to meet the needs for malware and parental controls by supplying PC clients; it is now only appropriate to deliver network-centric security capabilities. While parents may be able to install software to prevent their children from browsing pornography and other inappropriate content from a PC; their children have already worked out how to bypass such controls by browsing from their MP3 player, android phone and favourite game console.
In response to this, regulatory pressure is building in many countries to make carriers responsible for providing network-based restrictions on inappropriate content; but also to prevent subscribers from being defrauded by malware.
The AdaptiveMobile Network Protection Platform enables operators to provide their subscribers with a hosted cloud security solution; protecting their subscribers regardless of how they are connected to the network.
Fully integrated into the carrier’s existing systems, the subscriber can self-provision and self-manage the policies for their family on an individual user basis; via the carrier’s own web portal or through a range of apps to simplify policy management.
Providing full parental controls, malware, spam and privacy protection the sophistication and flexibility of the platform allows carriers to not only reinforce the trust that subscribers have with them, but can also leverage the platform to cross promote additional services through scheduled redirections to the operator portal.
